Accelonix : Feedback on the “Wiring for Batteries and Other Applications” Technology Day
Accelonix, distributor of equipment in industry electronics and microelectronics, recently organized a technology day dedicated to Wiring for batteries and other power applications. This event specialized has made it possible to cover the entire spectrum from research and development to production, with a particular focus on battery cell connection solutions for diversified production.
Battery wiring by Wire Bonding
The session began with an in-depth exploration of the principles of Wire Bonding, presented by experts from Accelonix, TPT, Hesse Mechatronics and Royce . Attendees were able to learn about the specifics of the ultrasonic process, the importance of parameters and specific tools, as well as ultrasonic wiring machines, materials and application requirements. The speakers also discussed the applications and specificities of wiring on different types of batteries, as well as the importance of prototyping and production equipment for small and medium series.
Ultrasonic “SmartWelding” and laser welding; design choices
This session explored SmartWelding’ and laser welding, highlighting design choices at Hesse. The presentations covered elements of control, metrology, precision, programming, as well as quality management and traceability. Participants were able to discover the issues, assets and challenges associated with these technologies, with a focus on automation and integration for production.
Demonstration room with equipment
Hands-on demonstrations in the afternoon allowed attendees to see Wire Bonding in action up close, with TPT HB30 and Hesse BJ959 equipment. Destructive and non-destructive testing with the Royce 620 was also presented, providing an overview of different testing methods between automatic and manual/semi-automatic equipment.
Inspection and assembly: broadening the focus
The day concluded with a question and answer session, allowing direct interaction with the experts. In addition to the demonstrations, Accelonix organized round tables on upstream X-ray inspection of battery cells with the company Comet Yxlon, as well as on battery pack assembly and downstream dispensing with the company Scheugenpflug. These discussions offered enriching perspectives on inspection and assembly technologies, highlighting the importance of these steps in the production of quality batteries.
This day organized by Accelonix not only highlighted the latest innovations in battery cabling, but also facilitated a constructive dialogue between the different players in the sector , paving the way for future collaborations.
