SEMICON Europa 2023: Strengthening the semiconductor industry through emerging talent and innovation

MUNICH, Germany – November 6, 2023 – SEMICON Europa 2023 s is set to bring together experts and industry leaders from November 14-17 at Messe München in Munich, Germany, with a greater focus on emerging talents in the microelectronics sector. Semicon Europa, Europe’s flagship exhibition and leading conference for the microelectronics supply chain, will feature talks and executives from the electronic design and manufacturing ecosystem, academia and government. Registrations are open.

In parallel with Productronica, SEMICON Europa 2023 will feature an exhibition, strategic programs, technical sessions and networking opportunities for all participants. From sessions specifically focused on recruiting new talent to the opportunity to connect with initiatives that support young professionals entering the industry, such as SEMI University, the event will open up new opportunities for the younger generation looking to break into the semiconductor industry.

“The number of vacancies in the semiconductor sector in Europe is increasing rapidly,” said Laith Altimime, President of SEMI Europe. “Experts at SEMICON Europa will highlight initiatives such as the Skills Pact and METIS4Skills to close the skills gap in industry and strengthen Europe’s competitiveness. »

Titled “Cultivating the Workforce of Tomorrow”, the Future of Work session will focus on the importance of inclusive leadership in building a diverse and sustainable workforce. This session will also address pressing industry issues, such as the global talent shortage and the critical need to develop tomorrow’s industry leaders while onboarding new talent. Youth participants will have the opportunity to take advantage of a networking event to make meaningful connections and advance their careers in the semiconductor industry.

The SEMICON Europa 20 Under 30 recognition program will also be announced at the event. This award recognizes the industry’s brightest young leaders who have achieved successful careers in the microelectronics supply chain (engineering, sales/marketing and R&D). We are looking for rising stars who are making a significant difference in the industry and who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, a commitment to success, community involvement and innovation through collaboration.

The European premiere of the documentary Chip In will take place at SEMICON Europa 2023. This film features three young adults in their twenties who explore careers in microelectronics. Following the screening, a networking breakfast will allow young professionals to connect with industry experts.

The SEMI Technology Playground offers all visitors to SEMICON Europa a space to interact with their peers and play with interactive technologies. From flight simulators to field hockey to virtual reality games, the gaming area provides an interactive space to explore the possibilities offered by the semiconductor industry in the entertainment sector.

SEMI is dedicated to improving the flow of talent, and attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about SEMI University and a new initiative on the SEMI Career website >. SEMI University is an online platform offering semiconductor courses that meet the learning and professional development needs of SEMI members and newcomers to the semiconductor industry worldwide. The SEMI career site aims to reduce barriers for those entering the industry by serving as a one-stop solution for job seekers. The show will also feature the SEMI Leadership Accelerator.

SEMI Europe collaborates with partners across the continent and is a member of the METIS4Skills consortium, ECoVEM and the European Chip Skills Academy, whose aim is to ensure the growth of links between academia and the industry, to foster the flow of talent that is essential for the long-term success of microelectronics in Europe.

A diverse and inclusive workforce leads to increased innovation, profitability, reviews, diversity of thought and employee morale. SEMI Europe has made available a collection of informative content and resources on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. The website offers information on how to create a inclusive company culture that brings the best ideas, optimizes team performance and creates a sense of belonging among employees.
